Sidney D. Wolk

Founder & Chairman Emeritus

Sidney D. Wolk was the Founder, Chairman and CEO of The Cross Country Group (CCG). Prior to his founding of CCG in 1972, Sid had been a retail entrepreneur, a top agent for Nationwide Insurance, and founder of an insurance agency and premium finance company, which was ultimately sold to the Utica Mutual Insurance Group. A graduate of Boston Latin School, he went on to receive a B.S. in business administration with a major in sales and marketing from Boston University. Active in a number of philanthropies and on several boards, Sid lived in Boston with his wife Deanna.

Mr. Wolk passed away on September 19, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving behind a profound legacy as both a business leader and a dedicated philanthropist. Under his vision, his original 1972 venture, Cross Country Motor Club, eventually became Agero, growing into one of the nation’s largest networks of roadside assistance providers. A 1999 recipient of the Horatio Alger Award for Distinguished Americans, Wolk believed that true success was defined by “the joy of giving”. He is remembered for his widespread charitable contributions, which included supporting the Greater Boston Food Bank, the Youth Automotive Training Center, and Combined Jewish Philanthropies, as well as founding the Wolk Center for Memory Health at Hebrew SeniorLife.
